At EHC, we are a Free Will Baptist Church, but most of the EHC family is made up of people from different church backgrounds (everything from Assembly of God to Southern Baptist to Catholic, and all points in between). We teach and preach according to FWB principles not simply because of our affiliation, but because above all, we believe them to be true. We are a church that does not emphasize the small differences in Christian belief systems that can, at times, divide the body of Christ. Instead we teach the Bible, and let His Word speak for itself. We have a way of saying it around here, “We try to major on the majors, and minor on the minors.”
Listed below are a few of the core beliefs of Eagle Heights Church. These teachings are “the majors,” of Biblical
Christianity, our rule for our lifestyle, and the basis of our teaching at EHC. Got questions? Then why not give us a call
or get in touch with us via e-mail?
CORE BELIEF 1: WE BELIEVE THAT THE BIBLE IS GOD’S WORD. We believe all Scripture is self-attesting and being Truth, requires our unreserved submission in all areas of life. The infallible Word of God, the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is a complete and unified witness to God's redemptive acts culminating in the incarnation of the Living Word, the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible, uniquely and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit, is the supreme and final authority on all matters on which it speaks
CORE BELIEF 2: WE BELIEVE IN THE TRINITY. We believe in one God, the sovereign Creator and Sustainer of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
CORE BELIEF 3: WE BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST AS HE IS REVEALED IN SCRIPTURE. Jesus Christ, the living Word, became flesh through His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and His virgin birth. He who is true God became true man united in one Person forever. He died on the cross a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. On the third day He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where, at the right hand of the God the Father, He now is our High Priest and Mediator.
CORE BELIEF 4: WE BELIEVE IN THE WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. The Holy Spirit has come to glorify Christ and to apply the saving work of Christ to our hearts. He convicts us of sin and draws us to the Savior. Indwelling our hearts, He gives new life to us, empowers and imparts gifts to us for service and for building the church. He instructs and guides us into all truth, and seals us for the day of redemption.
CORE BELIEF 5: WE BELIEVE MANKIND NEEDS A SAVIOR. Being separated from God and condemned by the sinfulness of all of mankind, our salvation is wholly dependent upon the work of God's free grace. God credits His righteousness to those who put their faith in Christ alone for their salvation, and thereby justifies them in His sight. Only those who receive Jesus Christ become children of God and heirs of eternal life.
CORE BELIEF 6: WE BELIEVE IN THE IMPORTANCE OF THE LOCAL CHURCH. The Church is composed of all persons who, through saving faith in Jesus Christ and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit, are united together in the body of Christ. The Church finds her visible, yet imperfect, expression in local congregations where the Word of God is preached in its purity, and where loving fellowship is maintained. The Church awaits the return of her Lord.
CORE BELIEF 7: WE BELIEVE IN THE SECOND COMING. Jesus Christ will come again to the earth -- personally, visibly, and bodily -- to judge the living and the dead, and to consummate history and the eternal plan of God. Then each person will be sent to the eternity of their choosing - with or without Christ.
CORE BELIEF 8: WE BELIEVE A CHRISTIAN’S LIFE SHOULD BE REORDERED. The Lord Jesus Christ commands all believers to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world and to make disciples of all nations. We are called to obey the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) and the Great Commandment ( Matthew 22:36-39). This is counter to the culture of our day, and yet our life should be defined by and patterned after Christ’s example and teachings. His life calls and compels us to live a life of self-denying love and service to others.
